2008 BASEBALL PROGRAM
5 & 6 Year Olds - T-Ball Baseball
T-Ball plays/practices every Monday and Wednesday night, 5:30 p.m. sharp, at Dufresne Park and if needed, at West Street School. The first meeting/practice will be April 28 at 5:30 p.m. at Dufresne Park. The season runs through June 15. At the first meeting/practice, there will be a parents meeting regardless of weather, so parents are asked to attend rain or shine. ALL QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED AT THIS MEETING. The ballplayers will also receive their uniforms and weather permitting, there will be a practice. T-Ball is intended as an introduction of the very basics and fun of playing baseball. T-Ball emphasizes the importance of camaraderie, teamwork, good sportsmanship and making new friends through baseball. Also, take note of their first practice and keep it in mind at the end of the season. You will be amazed at how much the kids improve.

9 & 10 Year Olds - Baseball Kid Pitch League
The practices for all players will be in the High School Gym on Saturday, March 22 at 9 a.m., and Saturday, March 29 at 9 a.m. Be sure to bring your sneakers and glove. At that time we will also be having a parents’ meeting, so parents please be sure to attend. ALL QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED AT THE FIRST MEETING ON MARCH 22TH. Games will be scheduled on various days of the week and there will be multiple practices throughout the season. The season should end no later than June 30, 2007. This is an exciting age group to be playing as it is live baseball, played entirely by the kids. As always we will continue to emphasize the importance of camaraderie, teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Tri-Town League
We will be looking to enter a team in the Tri-Town league. This is usually a bit more demanding of a league than the Park & Rec. Our program’s emphasis is for each of our players to develop at as non-stressful a pace as possible, particularly at this age group, while keeping a competitive edge with the communities we will be facing into the future. To ensure this balance, only fourth graders will be eligible to tryout for the Tri-Town team, if they so desire. All players not playing in Tri-Town will play in Park & Rec. I want to emphasize to the players that baseball, more than most sports, changes from year to year, and the more you play the better you get. So whether Tri-Town or Park & Rec you will be playing good ball, improving your game and most importantly, having fun.
11 & 12 Year Olds - Bronco Recreational and Tri-Town Bronco Leagues
All 11 & 12 players will have their practices and meeting in the High School gym on March 22 at 11:30 a.m., and Saturday, March 29 at 11:30 a.m. Please bring your sneakers and glove, ready to play. We will also be having a short parents’ meeting, so please be sure to attend. ALL QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED AT THE FIRST MEETING ON MARCH 22TH. This age group is tremendously exciting as it is true competitive baseball. The first practices will be used as tryouts for the Tri-Town team and the Park & Rec team. Even if you only intend to play on the Park & Rec team, please make these practices as it is a great way to get ready for the upcoming season. Both the Tri-Town and Park & Rec teams play very competitive and fun baseball which continues to focus on executing sound fundamentals and game situation strategy. As always we will continue to emphasize the importance of camaraderie, teamwork and good sportsmanship. I want to emphasize to the players, that baseball more than most sports, changes from year to year, and the more you play the better you get. So whether playing Tri-Town or Park & Rec you will be playing good ball, improving your game and most importantly, having fun.
13 - 16 Year Olds - Mickey Mantle Division
There will be a 13-16 team coached by Mike Labrie. You are eligible so long as you are not 17 prior to May 1, 2008. If we have enough players we will also be fielding a second Mickey Mantle team. But this is dependent upon how many players we have, as well as having someone willing to coach this team. Anyone who would be interested in coaching please let me know. Play on these teams is anticipated to begin at the end of the High School season and run through July 2008. Phone calls will be made to the players toward the beginning of May as to the actual start date and to give more information. ALL QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED AT THAT TIME. It would be great to have enough kids for a second team but if there are not enough players for two teams, we will have no choice but to make cuts and field only one team. So let all players know to sign up now.
